Like an Eagle

I had the honor of watching an eagle hunt one day when Ken spotted it perched high up in a tree waiting patiently, eyes focused on the river below. A few moments later the eagle spread its wings and took flight. Riding the wind current it picked up speed. Head pointed toward the river far below, the eagle went straight to the fish it caught.

It looked so effortless. I thought of one of my favorite scriptures.

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." -- Isaiah 40:31

Watching the eagle hunt I learned more about what those words mean.

When we decide we want something ...we have a choice.

We can flap our wings and rush around going after anything that moves.

Or

We can do like the eagle.

Know what we want

Go where we are most likely to find it.

Be still and line up with with our creator and all that is.

Look for what we want.

Wait until we know conditions are just right.

Then move quickly with the help of unseen forces to what we desire.

Either way we catch a fish.

The eagle caught a bigger fish with less effort.

Let's be more like the eagle.
